John J. Mongogna has worked as a civil litigator and business attorney since 1997 when he was licensed by the State Bar of Texas. He received his license to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas in 1998 and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in 1999. Before he began his career as an attorney he was privileged to work as a Legislative Aid to US Representative Larry Combest in Lubbock, Texas. He began his practice working for a small to midsized law firm in Dallas representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants. Prior to coming to Albin Oldner Law, PLLC he worked for a large law firm handling complex litigation cases as well large business transactions. He has represented companies in large commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, high profile insurance defense cases, non-competition cases, real estate disputes, franchise matters, construction defect cases, dram shop, crane cases, and business dissolution disputes. He also practices in the areas of consumer law, including DTPA, personal injury, and wrongful death. He has worked on the Plaintiff and Defense sides of many wrongful death and personal injury actions including Trucking, Construction, Automobile, Premises Liability, and Job Site Accidents. He has represented hospitals, airlines, political departments, including constables, sheriffs, and commissioners. He has extensive experience in jury trials, emergency, and injunctive matters, and many non-jury trials.
John believes that every client deserves a general counsel they can call discuss potential problems before they occur. He believes that a proactive approach to business planning and disputes is the best way to prevent disputes and to keep disputes from escalating. He also believes that law is about strategy and strategy is more than pushing paper. He also believes that sometimes strategy dictates that a fight is necessary.
John married his college sweetheart and they have two beautiful daughters who make them so proud and they live in Collin County. Mr. Mongogna is an active member in the community and his church and has served on the board of Total Home Health Care, Jimmy Mac Foundation supporting Special Olympics, and the Grace and Mercy Foundation. He also serves as a leader and participant on Disaster Relief mission trips with Twenty-six: Twelve. He is a Member of the Dallas Bar Association and Italian Bar Association and was recognized as a Rising Star in the Super Lawyers Edition of the Texas Monthly in 2007 and 2011.
John graduated from Texas Tech University in 1994 and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1997. He was awarded the Regents Scholarship from 1994-1997, the W.R. Quilliam Memorial Endowed Scholarship from 1995-1997, the Ex-Students Association Award Scholarship from 1991-1994, and Athletic Scholarships 1991-1994.
